Junior
January 14, 2009

Ta-dah! This is the cover of Royksopp’s upcoming album Junior. Quite weird. And they are on the cover themselves! For the first time. Hmm… Interesting.
In the meantime
January 13, 2009
There is a song ‘Meantime’ that Immi released in 1999 somewhen between her debut album and Frou Frou. It was written for a soundtrack oto a British independent movie ‘G:MT’.
Angst-filled ‘Meantime’ produced by Guy Sigsworth is a pearl. Imogen’s amazing vocals married to airy d’n'b are a perfect couple.
If this wasn’t enough, there are these sad ice-cold lyrics:
you’ll only find out if this was love
once you’ve tried out another
you’ll only find out if this was love
caressing some other lover
…
so take my heart in the meantime
will the next love be the real one?
These lyrics (listen to them in full!) remind me of the movie ‘Closer’ somehow, if you know what I mean… All this emptiness and sadness that people want to get rid of by trying new casual relationships again and again just to end up more confused and lonely.
The music video for this song has the vibe that suits the song just perfectly. Maybe it’s not the best video ever (remember it was made like ten years ago), but it has what it takes to develop the track’s sad creepy feeling.
Happy up here
January 12, 2009
Good news: you can listen to Röyksopp’s new single ‘Happy up here’! Just click here… Well, I expected something more exciting. As a track from the album it’s not that bad (I guess), but as a single? It makes you happy and smiling, but that would be probably all you can remember about the song when the album is released (23rd March).
On the other hand, after sixth time I listen to the song I start to really like it.
Stars Galore

Imagine Madonna, Nelly Furtado, Justin Timberlake, Britney Spears, Pharrell and Timbaland in one song…
And now, listen to it!
Go Ciara!
January 7, 2009
I was going through a list of upcoming releases and I’ve found Ciara’s Fantasy Ride. So I checked out the video of the promo single ‘Go Girl’ (okay, it was released in September but I don’t follow her career that carefully)… Wow. She’s a great dancer! I like the concept of the video – grayish chromatic colours, futuristic outfits, distorted effects. But still – it’s Ciara’s moves that make this video so cool!
I only pity that Ciara creates ‘a character she becomes when she performs onstage and in her music videos’ called Super C (she could’ve been more creative). Hope it won’t be as ridiculous as Beyonce’s Sasha Fierce…
But I have to say that to me Ciara is the only genuine r’n'b singer on the market since Aaliyah’s gone (they are so different though).
Röyksopp return as well!
January 6, 2009
After three years, Röyksopp return with a new album! Junior will be released on 23rd of March. It will feature Lykke Li, Robyn and Karin Dreijer, the vocalist of The Knife (by the way – she’s gonna release her solo album in March as well).
Visit www.royksopp.com for more information and the tracklist.
I am more than thrilled with all the new music in 2009, but there is still so much waiting before I can finally hear it… I think it’s the right time to look back in 2008 and choose my top 10… (to be continued… soon!)
Fearless Lily
January 5, 2009
Lilly Allen returns with sharp funny lyrics and catchy melodies! At least that’s what I expect after the first single ‘The fear’ from her upcoming album It’s not me, it’s you that will be released on 9th February.
As far as I know, she collaborated with Greg Kurstin (one-half of The Bird and The Bee) on most of the new material, so I am more than thrilled to hear the album.
All songs are available for a preview here. I especially like ‘Everyone’s at it’ and ‘Fuck you’ – this one is sooo Lily Allen!
For now, you can see ‘The Fear’ music video below (I have to admit that it’s pretty captivating):
