Sex and the City
February 28, 2009
I have just seen Sex and the City (the movie). Spending two hours in that world was just… fabulous! I watched all series for the first time in January – you can imagine how great it was.
Even though I absolutely adore the series and I consider it as a pop cultural milestone of a new Millenium, I am not going to praise it here – it is a blog about music, so I’d just better stick to the music.
There was plenty of songs Read the rest of this entry »
Weekend vibe #01
February 27, 2009
No matter if you are planning to go out or not, a good old song that used to be a huge party hit will get you in the mood for moving your body (even if it is only moving in a chair in front of the screen).
From now on, I will try to post a song or two every weekend to cheer you up a bit. Read the rest of this entry »
Buraka Som Sistema – Black Diamond
February 26, 2009
Buraka Som Sistema
Black Diamond
3+/6

Buraka Som Sistema joined Heineken Open’er Festival 2009 line-up recently, so I decided to listen to their debut album Black Diamond. Raw sounds of kuduro are just crazy – the moment I heard the leading single ‘Sound of Kuduro’ featuring M.I.A., I felt the thrill of dancing wildly in the crowd (flashbacks of my music festivals were involved). I just can’t wait to see them live!

Poor song, poor video
February 24, 2009
If it wasn’t bad enough that Röyksopp’s leading single from upcoming album Junior sounds like a track rejected from their previous LP, the video made for ‘Happy Up Here’ is so plain that I can’t even be specific and point out what I don’t like about it.
It’s sad how the band that once was so original has become so stale. I just hope they made the worst possible choice of the first single and the Junior will bring some thrill.

Aaliyah – the movie
February 23, 2009
I’ve just found out that Bill Condon, the director of Dreamgirls, will work on a biographic movie about Aaliyah this year. I had never heard even of the idea of the movie before, so this is a nice surprise to me.
I bet you wonder who is gonna play the leading role…
So fine
February 23, 2009

Telepathe
Even though I’m not a big fan of Amercian ultra-indie weird bands, I’ve found myself listening to Telepathe’s ‘So Fine’ several times in a row. That’s a grower.
The girls are obviously inspired by ’80s tunes. Like most of new acts recently. I can’t find anything special about Telepathe, but ‘So fine’ is a nice piece of synth-pop worth giving it a try.
The indie-shmindie music video reflects the song’s character – so point for this – but it annoys me at the same time. There’s nothing wrong in being indie and making great videos – good example here.

I feel like I need to share this faaabulous news: I have a ticket for Madonna’s Sticky and Sweet Tour concert this summer! And now even more faaabulous detail: Golden Circle ticket – it means that I will be just by the ‘catwalk’.
Have a look at a footage from the concert:
Ok, six months to go!
